Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a CNC Mill Set-up Technician in Tualatin, OR for day and swing shifts. You will set up and run CNC mills, read blueprints, and help optimize cycle times while mentoring others.

The role is contract to hire in a clean, collaborative shop with multiple machines and a focus on precision and on-time delivery. Ideal candidates have intermediate to journeyman CNC milling experience, familiarity with Mazak, Fanuc, and Mastercam, and the ability to comply with established processes

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC mill setups and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints.
• Familiarity with G&M codes, Mazak, and Fanuc controls.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision parts.
• Assist in optimizing cycles and mentor operators as assigned.
• Review drawings and fixtures, select tooling, and secure workholding.
• Monitor machine performance and report issues.
• Ensure on-time delivery and quality per specs.

Job Title: CNC Mill Set-up Technician

Seeking a skilled CNC Mill Set-up Technician for both Day Shift (7am-3:30pm) and Swing Shift (3pm-11:30pm). The ideal candidate will possess a strong experience in CNC Mill Machining, ranging from intermediate to journeyman level. Our facility offers a dynamic environment where precision machining and adherence to established processes are paramount.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and machining centers to fabricate precision machined metallic and non-metallic parts.
• Specialize in setting up mill turn sub spindle live tooling lathes with minimal or no supervision from start to finish.
• Collaborate closely with Programming and Manufacturing Manager to provide feedback on cycle time reduction and machine optimization.
• Provide guidance and instruct other machine operators and machinists as assigned.
• Ensure efficient production, on-time delivery, and that quality of products meets customer specifications.
• Review and study CAD drawings, models, blueprints, and other technical documents to prepare for machining operations.
• Select, align, and secure work holding/fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls as required.
• Submit 1st Piece Article to the Inspection Department for verification.
• Monitor and maintain machine coolants, lubricants, and other essential fluids.

Essential Skills

• Intermediate to journeyman level CNC Mill Machining experience.
• Experience with vertical and horizontal milling.
• Ability to follow established processes and adapt to new procedures.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical documents.
• Familiarity with G&M codes, Mazak, and Fanuc systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with 5-axis CNC Mills and knowledge of Mastercam.
• Understanding of Renishaw probe systems.
• Experience with Mazak CNCs is a plus.
• Willingness to consider candidates with only 4-axis experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
