About Us

McMellon Brothers is a well-established, highly respected aerospace CNC machine shop based in Stratford, CT. We specialize in precision, close-tolerance components for the aerospace sector. Our team thrives on technical expertise, stable long-term production runs, and a clean, modern manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join our 1st-shift team. Unlike a basic operator role, you will be responsible for taking jobs from a setup sheet through the first-piece inspection, troubleshooting the process, and ensuring the line runs flawlessly. If you possess a high mechanical aptitude, love precision manufacturing, and want a stable environment running long-term aerospace lots, we want to talk to you.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform complete machine setups including installing fixtures, dialing in indicators, setting tool heights, and loading initial programs.
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints and complex technical drawings utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Prove out new programs and make critical edits to G-code/M-code at the controller to optimize cycle times or correct errors.
  • Execute first-piece and in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot machining issues independently, adjusting machine offsets, speeds, and feeds to maximize tool life and maintain tight aerospace tolerances.
  • Maintain equipment continuity by performing routine preventive maintenance and ensuring a clean, safe workspace.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Required: 3+ years of professional CNC machining experience (setup and operation).
  • Required: Deep understanding of blueprints, component tolerances, and tool selection.
  • Required: Proven experience using high-level precision measuring equipment for strict quality control.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment with specialized alloys.
  • Preferred: Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or similar multi-axis control systems.
  • Preferred: Completion of a formal manufacturing trade school program or technical apprenticeship.
  • Flexible Daily Overtime: Up to 4 hours of OT available every single day to maximize your paycheck—completely voluntary
  • Full Health & Dental Coverage: 100% company-paid health and dental insurance for the employee.
  • Affordable Family Care: Minimal buy-ins to easily add your family members to health and dental plans.
  • Year-End Profit Bonus: McMellon Brothers rewards hard work with a year-end bonus tied directly to annual company performance.
  • Set 1st-Shift Hours: Stable, predictable core schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
