Job summary

Woodward in Santa Clarita, CA is seeking experienced machinists to join our team, performing honing and lapping of precision components to aerospace standards. This hands-on role requires setting up mandrels, selecting stones, and maintaining tight tolerances while inspecting finished parts for quality.

Position is a contract through December 2027 with competitive hourly pay, overtime, and shift differentials. Training is provided; contact Rabeel Imrane at RPS Recruitment for details.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of machining setup experience.
• Practical experience with honing and lapping, including manual operations.
• Experience setting up mandrels and knowledge of stone types and lapping compounds.
• Strong understanding of precision machining, dimensional accuracy and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and performing honing and lapping operations to achieve precise dimensions, surface finishes and flatness.
• Operating manual and horizontal honing equipment to produce high-quality components.
• Setting up mandrels and selecting the appropriate stones and lapping compounds for each application.
• Working to engineering specifications and maintaining tight tolerances.
• Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.
