  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, and manufacturing personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements.
  • Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts.
  • Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan.
  • Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly.
  • Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise.
  • Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects.
  • Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop.
  • performing work involved in fabricating and machining pump, valve, pipe, and equipment parts and components from metal and plastic stock, work from blueprints, drawings, written specifications, and verbal instructions, and work using a variety of machine tools.

Company Description

Coastal Pump Services Inc. is a water and wastewater equipment sales and service company providing comprehensive support for pumps, motors, and related systems. The company offers free pick-up and delivery on repairs, with no mileage charges, and provides 24-hour service with time-and-a-half rates after normal business hours and on weekends. CPS services and repairs all types of water and wastewater pumps, including submersible, dry well, positive displacement, centrifugal, and vertical turbine models, and offers rebuilds or replacement equipment as needed. The company also provides preventative maintenance programs, custom machining, gear reducer and blower rebuilds, mechanical seals (new and rebuilt), valves, AC/DC motors, dynamic balancing, epoxy coatings, and crane service.


Machinist’s Duties and Responsibilities

To make parts that fully meet all required specifications. Typically perform the following job duties:



  • Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements

Skills:


  • Previous CNC programming experience preferred

  • Understanding of material properties & characteristics

  • Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gage, and comparator stand/gage

  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.
