Job summary

Automation Personnel Services is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at a leading industrial pump manufacturing and repair facility. The Machinist will set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify pump components to precise specifications.

This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of machinist experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or pump repair environment preferred.
  • Experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, and CNC experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machines, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
  • Machine, repair, and modify pump shafts, sleeves, impellers, casings, bearing housings, and other pump components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Maintain close tolerances and ensure all finished products meet quality standards.
  • Perform equipment setup, tool changes, and machine adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with pump assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting activities when required.
  • Identify and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel to improve manufacturing processes.

Job description

Automation Personnel Services is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at a leading industrial pump manufacturing and repair facility. The Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify pump components to precise specifications. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work from blueprints and engineering drawings.

Pay Rate

$30.00 to 34.00 per hour

Schedule and Hours

Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Machinist Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual machines, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
  • Machine, repair, and modify pump shafts, sleeves, impellers, casings, bearing housings, and other pump components

Machinist Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Experience
  • Industrial pump manufacturing or repair experience
  • Experience machining stainless steel, carbon steel, bronze, and exotic alloys
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and gearboxes
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
  • Ability to safely operate machinery and material handling equipment
