ERL Inc. is seeking a skilled Manual and CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis milling center machines. The role includes loading parts, proving tapes, setting offsets, and performing tool changes while ensuring in-process quality.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read drawings and understand geometric tolerancing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes and milling centers to produce parts.
  • Load parts, verify program tapes, set offsets, and perform simple edits as needed.
  • Inspect quality parts for conformance and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain clean work area and assist with basic preventative maintenance.

Job description

Manual and CNC Lathe Machinist - Set up and operate multi-axis milling center machines. Perform set-ups on proven to NC (National Course) parts, tool changes and resetting of tool offsets when necessary. Conduct in-process inspection. Dismantle set-ups and return tools to proper location upon completion of manufacturing runs. Report discrepancies of blueprint dimensions to management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience operating Manual and CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in manufacturing. Preferably experience with Pumps and Valves in the marine industry.

Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, bore gauges and indicators.

Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.

Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Must be able to communicate in English (both written & oral) as it relates to the job.

Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

Must be willing and able to work extended hours as necessary.

Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.

Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

Willing to run multiple machines independently or in a team environment.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.

Responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.

Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.

Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.

Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality or production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.

Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
