The Machinist performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, including operating lathes to manually produce parts from raw materials like metal or plastic, brazing, soldering, and plumbing. They set up, adjust, and maintain assigned equipment, ensuring production and quality standards are met. They start up and shut down equipment following safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
Knowledge of complex electrical and mechanical principles, electrical codes, and the use and care of related tools and equipment. Capable of visualizing and understanding manufacturing equipment and tooling problems, with initiative and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and establish good working relationships.
Must meet physical requirements to perform essential job functions. Adhere to safety policies, maintain a clean work environment, and be vigilant about hazards and safety protocols.
Exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical components, and varying temperatures. Noise levels are usually moderate to very loud. Requires teamwork and adaptability to environmental conditions.
