Qualifications

• Must be able to safely load and unload components to and from machining centers.
• Must be able to safely use hand tools to scrape/clean excess material from components.
• Must be able to safely use pneumatic power tools to clean/deburr component edges.
• Proficiency in using gauges and measuring instruments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CNC Machining.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate turning centers and machining centers.
• Prepare production runs and maintain setup throughout runs.
• Monitor and adjust gauges during production runs to ensure quality.
• Sets up and performs production runs in turning centers, grinders, or machining centers.
• Maintains the setup throughout production runs including upkeep of tooling.
• Obtains, monitors, and adjusts gauges during production runs to produce quality parts and inputs all necessary SPC data.
• Records transactions and tracks parts and materials according to established procedures.
• Performs housekeeping duties and other internal operations.
• Assists other work areas or departments as needed.
• Assists in cross-training others.
• Assists in general preventative maintenance activities.

Position Overview

The Machinist B independently and competently sets up and operates turning centers, grinders, and/or machining centers in the process of converting raw materials into finished parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Gets work assignment from Supervisor, Lead person or via scheduling tools.
• Follows scheduling tools to prepare setups in the optimal sequence.
• Prepares production runs, sometimes picking own tooling from the tool crib.
• Sets up and performs production runs in turning centers, grinders, or machining centers.
• Maintains the setup throughout production runs including upkeep of tooling.
• Obtains, monitors, and adjusts gauges during production runs to produce quality parts and inputs all necessary SPC data.
• Records transactions and tracks parts and materials according to established procedures.
• Performs housekeeping duties and other internal operations.
• Assists other work areas or departments as needed.
• Assists in cross-training others.
• Assists in general preventative maintenance activities.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to safely load and unload components to and from machining centers.
• Must be able to safely use hand tools to scrape/clean excess material from components, and smooth all edges and surfaces.
• Must be able to safely use pneumatic power tools to clean/deburr component edges and surfaces, and perform other secondary operations.
• Must be able to safely inspect machined components to ensure tolerance fit and quality per specified gauge lists, gauging, and component requirements.

Basic Qualifications

• English literacy.
• Basic math skills / ability to do this job.
• Basic blueprint reading skills/ability to do this job.
• Proficiency in using basic gauges and measuring instruments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CNC Machining. Physical ability to do this job.
• Demonstrated competence in performing the Machinist B activities listed above.

Educational Requirements
