Jennmar in South Point, OH is seeking a skilled Machinist to contribute to precision metalworking. The role involves reading blueprints, setting up machines, and performing tool operations on lathes, mills, and grinders.

Candidates should have 1-2 years of machinist experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a solid grasp of measurement with micrometers. Safety and teamwork are essential in our production environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a safety evaluation of the work area prior to performing machinist actions.
• Perform routine maintenance and machine setup actions as required throughout all phases of production.
• Read/interpret technical drawings or prints for machining specifications.
• Perform machine-tooling actions on conventional machine tools including lathes, shapers, planers, and milling machines.
• Perform machine tooling actions on various metal forming tools including grinders, saws, drilling and boring machines.
• Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School/GED Preferred
• Tech/Vo Tech Training Certificate; Machining or Tool and Die Tech Certificate Preferred
• One-to-Two (1-2) Years Demonstrated Machinist Experience Required

Qualifications

• Dependability to consistently be at work and on time, with the ability to work a flexible 40+ hour schedule as required
• Fundamental listening, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately follow directions
• Functional mechanical knowledge to determine various tooling machine functions
• Functional mathematical ability, including knowledge of fractions and decimals, to perform calculations and measurements using a tape measure and/or micrometers
• Spatial and form perception, along with finger and manual dexterity, to interpret blueprints, verify machine part dimensions, and perform machining operations
• Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, machinery, and equipment
• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality assurance and safety while handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, and performing machining operations
• Ability to stand and/or bend repetitively during normal job duties
• Effective communication skills to interact with management, co-workers, and outside vendors
