Job summary

Enpro Industries, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate assigned CNC equipment, load materials, monitor cycles, and inspect parts to ensure quality. You will document outcomes and participate in preventive maintenance while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent technical training.
  • Machining, manufacturing, or related technical experience preferred or equivalent training.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and shop math skills.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and production documentation.
  • Basic ability to read engineering drawings and dimensional requirements.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments or related training.
  • Clear communication of production, quality, equipment, and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC equipment using established programs and instructions.
  • Load materials and monitor equipment to maintain safe, consistent production.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify part quality.
  • Make routine offset adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Monitor operations and seek support when issues fall outside guidelines.
  • Complete production records and inspection documentation accurately.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment concerns.
  • Maintain safe, organized work areas and proper tools and materials.
  • Follow safety, quality, and production requirements; stop unsafe work when needed.

Job Summary:

This position supports safe and reliable production by operating CNC equipment to produce parts that meet quality and production requirements. Working from established programs and work instructions, the role monitors machining operations, verifies part quality, completes required documentation, and identifies issues requiring additional technical support.

What You’ll Do:
  • Operate assigned CNC equipment using established programs, work instructions, and machining processes.
  • Load materials and monitor equipment throughout the machining cycle to support safe and consistent production.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment to verify parts meet requirements.
  • Make routine offset adjustments within established guidelines to maintain part quality.
  • Monitor machining operations, recognize conditions that may affect quality or equipment performance, and seek support when issues fall outside established guidelines.
  • Complete production records, inspection documentation, and other required shop paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance activities and report equipment concerns.
  • Maintain raw materials, tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and production requirements and stop work when unsafe or nonconforming conditions are identified.

What You’ll Bring:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Machining, manufacturing, or related technical experience, or equivalent technical training.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and shop math skills.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, production documentation, and established procedures.
  • Basic ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensional requirements.
  • Basic experience using precision measuring instruments, or related technical training that included measurement and inspection.
  • Ability to communicate production, quality, equipment, and safety concerns clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating CNC equipment in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Technical coursework, certification, or vocational training in machining, CNC operation, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls, basic G-code, machine offsets, blueprint reading, and precision inspection tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while operating machining equipment.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to load and unload equipment and access work areas.
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials, precision tools, measuring instruments, and small parts.
  • Visual acuity to read technical information, verify measurements, and inspect parts for conformance.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; team lift required for items over 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical equipment and in areas where noise levels may vary; required personal protective equipment must be worn.
