Job summary

Enpro is seeking a CNC Machinist II to independently set up and operate CNC equipment, ensuring parts meet quality, delivery, and safety standards. You will review drawings, prepare equipment, and monitor processes while supporting production teams and improving efficiency.

Under this role, you will troubleshoot routine machining issues, adjust programs, and document activities. A strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork drives ongoing performance improvements in our world‑class shop.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • 2–3 years CNC machining: setup and operation.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Ability to identify issues and escalate when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC equipment to support production requirements.
  • Review drawings, routers, setup information, and production requirements to prepare equipment.
  • Verify first-piece and in-process quality to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Make routine machining and program adjustments to maintain quality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot routine machining, tooling, and equipment issues and elevate when needed.
  • Support operators and less experienced machinists with machine operation and setup.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Complete production, quality, preventive maintenance, and setup documentation on time.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas per safety and housekeeping expectations.

As a CNC Machinist II, you'll independently set up and operate equipment, troubleshoot machining challenges, and play a key role in delivering the quality and reliability our customers depend on.

Job Summary:

This position supports production by independently setting up and operating CNC equipment to produce parts that meet quality, delivery, and safety requirements. The role applies machining knowledge and technical judgment to prepare equipment, maintain process performance, troubleshoot routine machining issues, and ensure parts consistently meet specifications.

What You’ll Do:
  • Independently set up and operate CNC equipment to support production requirements.
  • Review drawings, routers, setup information, and production requirements to prepare equipment for assigned work.
  • Verify first-piece and in-process quality to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Make routine machining and program adjustments necessary to maintain part quality and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot routine machining, tooling, and equipment issues and make appropriate adjustments or elevate concerns when needed.
  • Support operators and less experienced machinists with machine operation, set up, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and workflow within the machine shop.
  • Complete production, quality, preventive maintenance, and setup documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in accordance with safety, quality, and housekeeping expectations.

What You’ll Bring:
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of CNC machining experience, including machine setup and operation, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Ability to independently complete routine CNC setups and support production through first-piece approval and ongoing process monitoring.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, production documentation, and basic GD&T requirements.
  • Experience making routine machining and program adjustments to maintain quality and production performance.
  • Working knowledge of machining processes, tooling, inspection methods, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to identify production issues, determine appropriate corrective actions, and elevate concerns when needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and support less experienced colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical certification or coursework in machining or manufacturing.
  • Experience in both CNC milling and turning environments.
  • Experience with Swiss machining or similar precision manufacturing equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while operating machining equipment.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to load and unload equipment and access work areas.
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials, precision tools, measuring instruments, and small parts.
  • Visual acuity to read technical information, verify measurements, and inspect parts for conformance.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; team lift required for items over 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical equipment and in areas where noise levels may vary; required personal protective equipment must be worn.

These considerations can cause offered compensation to vary. The hiring range for this position is typically $21.14 - $31.72 hourly. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Bonus, gainshare, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
