We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Structural Component Production team on Florida’s Space Coast at our Orbital Launch Site Manufacturing Complex. In this role, you will play a crucial part in processing and programming structural components that support the assembly of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. Your contributions will directly impact the future of space exploration by ensuring safe and repeatable spaceflight operations.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shift: B | Monday – Thursday (4pm-2:30am), C | Friday – Sunday (5am-5:30pm), D | Friday – Sunday (5pm - 5:30am)

  • Location: Space Coast, FL

  • Relocation: Available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate CNC controlled machines, including multi-axis lathes and mills, to produce precision parts from metals, plastics, and composites.

  • Program and set up AgieCharmilles wire and sinking EDM machines, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to meet tolerance requirements.

  • Assist in the setup of new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment configuration.

  • Utilize multi-axis machining, turning, and grinding centers on various products.

  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize work based on production schedules and organizational objectives.

  • Work with engineering teams to document and standardize production processes.

  • Facilitate the transition from development to production by collaborating closely with engineering.

  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects to enhance area safety and efficiency.

  • Perform second-party verification of manufactured hardware and assist in the transition from development to production.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED, plus a trade school degree, Military, or equivalent years of relevant experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus in CNC or EDM machining (3 years Level II Machinist, 7 years Level III Machinist).

  • Proficient in CNC programming using offline software such as UG, Esprit, or MasterCam.

  • Experience with AgieCharmilles EDM machines and/or various CNC controls (Okuma, Fanuc, etc.).

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

  • Experience with blueprint reading, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.

  • Knowledge of outside processing techniques (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.

  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.

  • Experience machining nickel-based stainless-steel alloys, copper, and titanium.

  • Basic knowledge of tooling and fixture design.

  • Familiarity with heavy lifting equipment and flight-critical hardware.

  • Continuous improvement mindset and an intense curiosity for optimizing processes.

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.

  • Willingness to work overtime.
