Essential Functions/Qualifications
- Perform preventative maintenance on canning machinery (e.g., fillers, sealers, conveyors).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in canning equipment.
- Conduct major overhauls and rebuilds of canning machinery as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production line stoppages caused by equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Perform regular safety inspections of equipment.
- Optimize the performance of canning machinery to maximize production efficiency.
- Contribute to maintaining high product quality by ensuring proper equipment function and minimizing product damage.
- Possess strong mechanical and electrical skills, including experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems.
- Have proven experience in maintaining and repairing food processing equipment, preferably in a canning environment.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems effectively and efficiently.
- Other duties to support the facility and organization’s success.

Education and Experience
- 1-3 years’ experience as a machinist in canneries or equivalent.
- Experience in food processing, particularly canning, is beneficial.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality control is advantageous.
- Experience in seafood or manufacturing preferred.
Work Environment and Schedule
Work involves exposure to moving parts, humid conditions, cold, high places, chemicals, and loud noise. Onsite presence in Alaska is required, with travel between facilities.
Physical Demands
Requires standing, walking, handling, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
