Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ seeks a General Helper to support CNC machinists and keep operations running smoothly. The role involves basic maintenance, material handling, and assisting with machine setup, deburring, and finishing processes in a fast-paced shop.

The position requires at least 1 year of shop experience and a high school diploma. It offers an hourly wage and a benefits package including medical and PTO, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a maintenance shop or manufacturing environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and wear PPE as required.
• Ability to read and interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal.
• Unload trucks, move stock to specific machines.
• Operate manual equipment with guidance from setup crew.
• Run parts on CNC machines, deburr, and operate laser engraver.
• Finish parts by tumbling, polishing extrusions, bead blasting.
• Maintain safe, clean work areas and comply with safety regulations.
• Adhere to company policies and quality standards.
