Job summary

Vulcan Elements Inc. is hiring a senior leader to build and run the Machining Operations in our North American facility.

You will drive equipment commissioning, process qualification, and ramp nine production lines from first qualified part to full rate, while shaping the organization, setting shifts, and ensuring safety, quality, and cost targets are met. You will partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Capital teams to select tooling, establish cell layouts, and implement robust process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years in precision machining or discrete manufacturing operations.
• 5+ years leading production teams in 24/7 multi-shift environments.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, grinding, and fixturing.
• Proven ownership of equipment commissioning and process qualification.
• Experience with OEE, SPC, and process capability (Cpk).
• Budget management and cost-control in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience deploying MES or shop-floor data systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own machining process startup end to end from spec review to rate ramp.
• Lead first-article inspection and capability studies for multiple operations.
• Define and implement coolant, tooling, and abrasive management systems.
• Design the Machining Operations organization and staffing plan.
• Own safety performance and evolve safety culture on the floor.
• Drive OEE, yield, scrap reduction, cycle time and changeover improvements.
• Manage operating expenses, headcount planning and tooling/ consumables spend.
