Job summary

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) in Downers Grove, IL, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize CNC machining processes for machined components and assemblies. You will design tooling, CAM programs, and process flows to boost productivity and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Hands-on CNC programming experience using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit, GibbsCAM, NX CAM, CAMWorks, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for machined components and assemblies.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers using CAM software.
  • Select cutting tools, fixtures, work holding, and machining strategies to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, reduce cycle times, and improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
  • Support new product introductions by developing manufacturing methods, process documentation, and work instructions.
  • Design and validate manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Conduct time studies, process capability analyses, and root cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure products are manufacturable (DFM).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Develop process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with Quality to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Support equipment selection, installation, validation, and commissioning.
  • Train machinists and operators on new programs, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze production metrics and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company quality requirements.
