Job summary

EPITEC in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking an experienced Machining Launch Tooling Engineer to support the successful launch of new high-volume automotive machining lines. The role requires hands-on tooling and process improvement, with close collaboration with corporate launch teams, plant operations, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met.

You will lead tooling readiness, develop and validate tooling, support PPAP and launch documentation,

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in machining, tooling, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience supporting machining operations, tooling development, and launches.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support machining processes through tooling development, validation, and optimization.
• Lead tooling readiness activities for new machining line launches.
• Support implementation and maintenance of tool tracking systems.
• Identify tool-dominant features and establish robust process controls.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Complete PPAP documentation and launch quality requirements.
• Develop process documentation, work instructions, and quality procedures.
• Lead variability reduction, lean manufacturing, and waste elimination initiatives.
