Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks a Machine & Fabrication Technical Buyer in Nashville, TN or Holland, MI. You will guide sourcing decisions for machining and fabrication, mentor teammates, and ensure optimal manufacturing solutions across internal and external suppliers for complex automation projects.

Role requires strong manufacturing background, ERP experience (Epicor preferred), and collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Business.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical subject matter expert in machining and fabrication, guiding sourcing decisions and supplier feasibility.
• Evaluate and improve the preferred machining and fabrication supplier base based on capabilities and quality.
• Assist with make-vs-buy decisions using internal and external capabilities to optimize outcomes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align timelines, supplier constraints, and technical requirements.
• Apply manufacturing expertise to project bills of material and ensure alignment with sourcing strategy.
• Support material expediting by identifying root causes and working with suppliers and internal teams.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships through regular technical discussions and shop visits.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms as needed.
• Collaborate with Commodity and Strategic Purchasing to deliver technical value.
• Work with Supply Chain partners to share best practices in manufacturing-focused sourcing.
