Job summary

Novelis is seeking a Bay Minette-based Machine Shop & Fabrication Shop Supervisor to lead machining and metal fabrication operations. You will drive safety, quality, and schedule performance while coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, and contractors to ensure timely repair parts and precision components.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Five+ years in industrial machine-shop, fabrication, maintenance, or heavy-manufacturing.
• Two+ years leading skilled trades or multi-craft teams.
• Ability to plan competing work and coordinate resources.
• Basic MS Office; able to learn CMMS and timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead machinists, welders, fabricators, technicians, and contractors across both shops.
• Build a zero-injury culture through safety leadership, pre-job planning, LOTO, and safety controls.
• Prioritize work based on safety, production impact, equipment criticality, and customer need.
• Manage shop work from intake and scope through planning, material coordination, execution, inspection, delivery, and closeout.
• Ensure parts, repairs, weldments, and fabrications meet drawings, tolerances, and inspection standards.
• Maintain readiness of machine tools, welding/cutting equipment, and measuring tools.
• Develop employees through coaching, qualification plans, cross-training, and accountability.
• Support commissioning, outages, emergencies, and field modifications with safety and quality.
