Cummins Inc. in the United States (North Carolina) is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing/Engineering associate to assist in planning, design, and deployment of machining processes and equipment. You will work with engineering to identify issues, develop improvements, and support documentation for processes and products.
The role emphasizes hands-on manufacturing exposure, safety, and collaboration across functions, with a January 2027 start date and an on-site work arrangement.
Assists with the plan, design, purchase, and implementation of machining processes and equipment in an industrial plant.
Assists in the determination of parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals such as setup reduction and changeovers according to product specification; works with engineering to identify problems with product and performance and recommends solutions or enhancements. Assists with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Performs equipment engineering design evaluations and documents results; may recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Works to improve equipment availability and capability by utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.
Exempt Entry Level: Designed for external candidates within 2 years of completing their highest level of degree (Bachelor, Master, PhD, MBA, or JD) from an accredited U.S. college/university, and currently reside within the continental U.S.
International Student Eligibility (U.S. based roles): F-1 visa students must have approved Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Occupational Practical Training (OPT) before their Early Career assignment begin. CPT/OPT must relate to their degree and be authorized by their university. Students are responsible for securing this approval through their school’s international office.
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Basic level of relevant work experience required.
