A growing medical device manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Machining & Assembly Shift Supervisor to lead daily production operations within a regulated manufacturing environment.
This frontline leadership position will oversee machining and assembly personnel, execute production schedules, address operational issues, and ensure the team meets its safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals. The ideal candidate has manufacturing-floor leadership experience and understands CNC machining and/or precision assembly operations.
Available Shifts
- 1st Shift: 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
Candidates may be considered for either shift based on their experience and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily machining and assembly operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals
- Supervise, coach, and develop machine operators, assemblers, and production leads
- Execute production schedules, prioritize work orders, and coordinate effective shift handoffs
- Monitor production performance and respond quickly to equipment, staffing, quality, or material issues
- Identify bottlenecks and lead problem-solving efforts to improve production flow
- Allocate labor, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and schedule adherence
- Maintain a safe, organized, and 5S-compliant manufacturing environment
- Reinforce standard work, employee training, and performance expectations
- Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives, including waste reduction, setup improvements, visual management, and Kaizen activities
- Partner with planning, engineering, quality, and continuous-improvement teams to strengthen processes, routings, and work instructions
- Ensure production documentation, traceability, cleanliness, and other quality-system requirements remain audit-ready
Qualifications
- At least five years of manufacturing experience
- At least two years of experience in a production supervisor, shift supervisor, team lead, or comparable leadership position
- Experience overseeing machining and/or assembly operations
- Understanding of CNC machining operations; hands-on setup or programming experience is beneficial
- Experience managing production output and schedule commitments in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, standard work, waste reduction, and root-cause analysis
- Experience using ERP and/or MES systems for production tracking
- Strong floor leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in medical devices, aerospace, or another regulated manufacturing industry is strongly preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, operations, or a related field is preferred
