Job summary

JW Hicks, Inc. in Knox, Indiana is seeking a dynamic Machining & Assembly Manager to lead a shop floor team of 5-6 hourly workers. You will coordinate internal and external activities, ensure timely delivery, and uphold our commitment to quality and reliability in refractory‑grade products.

A 2‑year mechanical engineering or technical degree and 5–10 years of related experience are required, with blueprint interpretation, machining, and QA experience. ISO environment exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years' minimum experience.
• 2-4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar formal training and equivalent work experience.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with machining operations and fabrication.
• Strong organizational, project management and time management skills.
• Proficient with MS Office products.
• Experience with Quality Control.
• Ability to use sound technical concepts for problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 5-6 hourly employees.
• Coordinate internal and external activities to meet required deadlines.
• Acquire needed raw materials and components manufactured by subcontractors.
• Assemble various mechanical systems with manufactured/purchased subcomponents.
• Oversee manufacture of spare parts to support customer installed OEM equipment.
• Manage Quality System for all mechanical systems and individual components.
• Communicate frequently with the Engineering Department, Sales Department, and Technical Representatives.
