Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Machine Vision Engineer for an on-site contract in San Jose, CA to support manufacturing operations with automation and quality teams.

The right candidate will bring 5+ years in industrial machine vision, deep experience with Keyence XG-X and Cognex VisionPro/In-Sight, and the ability to integrate vision with PLCs and MES.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or CS field.
• Minimum 5 years creating machine vision apps in manufacturing.
• Expert with Keyence XG-X Vision and Cognex VisionPro/In-Sight.
• Experience integrating vision with PLCs and MES systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy vision inspections using Keyence XG-X and Cognex platforms.
• Select cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, and optics for robust inspections.
• Develop and validate vision algorithms for defects, measurements, OCR/OCV, and barcodes.
• Integrate vision with PLCs, networks, robotics, and MES systems.
• Support commissioning, production launches, and continuous improvement.

Job description

Our client, a leading industrial automation and advanced manufacturing company, is seeking a Machine Vision Engineer to join their team. As a Machine Vision Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering and Automation team supporting manufacturing, quality, and production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Machine Vision Engineer Location : San Jose, CA Pay Range: $80-$90/hr Job Type: Contract - 6+plus months Schedule : Onsite, M-F and Only W2

What's the Job?

• Design, develop, and deploy machine vision inspection solutions utilizing Keyence XG-X Series and Cognex Vision Pro/In-Sight platforms.
• Select and optimize cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, and optics to achieve robust and repeatable inspection performance.
• Develop, validate, and troubleshoot vision algorithms for defect detection, dimensional measurement, OCR/OCV, barcode reading, alignment, and process verification.
• Integrate vision systems with PLCs, industrial networks, robotics, and MES systems to support automated manufacturing operations.
• Support feasibility studies, equipment commissioning, production launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing machine vision applications within industrial manufacturing environments.
• Expert-level experience programming Keyence XG-X Vision Systems and developing applications using Cognex VisionPro and Cognex In-Sight Explorer.
• Strong understanding of machine vision fundamentals, including optics, cameras, image processing, field of view, depth of field, lighting techniques, and metrology.
• Experience integrating machine vision systems with industrial PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff, utilizing industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP and TCP/IP.
