Job summary

MKS Instruments in Methuen, MA is seeking a hybrid-role Automation Vision Engineer to lead machine vision and automated inspection initiatives for high-precision parts. You will oversee camera, optics, lighting, and imaging hardware, and integrate systems with robots and MES.

You will apply OpenCV and Cognex/Kenex tools, build Python/C++ algorithms, and drive data collection, analytics, and traceability for continuous manufacturing improvements.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering and/or computer science is required.
• Master's degree specializing in Computer Vision, Image Processing, or related field strongly preferred.
• 5+ years hands-on experience designing and implementing vision systems in industrial manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing machine vision systems for high-precision parts.
• Selecting and integrating cameras, lenses, lighting, and image acquisition hardware.
• Developing image processing and inspection applications using vision platforms and custom software.
• Evaluating traditional and AI/deep learning vision solutions.
• Supporting data collection, visualization, and process monitoring for continuous improvement.
• Collaborating with teams to standardize vision architectures across global factories.
• Supporting startup, validation, commissioning, troubleshooting of automated solutions.
