Job summary

BD, a global medical technology leader, is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Sandy, Utah facility. You will oversee machine shop operations, drive safety, quality, and lean initiatives while leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include production planning, scheduling, team development, and ensuring adherence to GMPs and safety regulations. Strong CNC, ERP (Job Boss), and Mastercam skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machine shop experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience in CNC machining environments.
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Job Boss preferred).
  • Proficiency in CNC setup and programming (Mastercam preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Scheduling using ERP systems (Job Boss preferred).
  • Coordinate workflow across multiple work centers to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-first team environment.
  • Monitor daily production performance and track important metrics to drive efficiency.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure optimal machine utilization and proper equipment handling.
  • Adhere to all quality standards, GMPs, and company procedures.
  • Support CNC machining operations including setup, programming, and troubleshooting (Mastercam preferred).
  • Drive lean initiatives and continuous improvement across the operation.
  • Train employees on equipment use, maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Manage resources, including external vendors, to support production goals.

Job Description

As a Production Supervisor at BD's Sandy manufacturing facility, you'll oversee machine shop and production operations, driving safety, quality, and operational excellence in the manufacture of critical medical device components. You'll lead and develop a high-performing team, optimize production performance, and champion continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.   • Schedule and prioritize jobs using ERP systems (Job Boss preferred)
  • Coordinate workflow across multiple work centers to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-first team environment
  • Operational Excellence
  • Monitor daily production performance and track important metrics to drive efficiency and throughput
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency
  • Ensure optimal machine utilization and proper equipment handling
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all quality standards, GMPs, and company procedures
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations (including hazardous materials and waste handling)
  • Partner with quality teams to resolve issues and improve overall product quality
  • Technical Oversight
  • Support CNC machining operations including setup, programming, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with tooling vendors to source and improve workholding and cutting tools
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and uptime optimization
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Drive lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the operation
  • Find opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance output
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Train employees on equipment use, maintenance, and safety standards
  • Manage resources, including external vendors, to support production goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5+ years of machine shop experience , including 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Experience in CNC machining environments required
Technical Skills
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Experience with ERP systems ( Job Boss preferred )
  • Proficiency in CNC setup and programming ( Mastercam preferred )
  • Knowledge of tooling, materials, and machining processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
