Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering seeks an experienced Machine Shop/Tool Room Supervisor to oversee daily machine shop operations in an AS9100-certified environment. The role drives safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee development, ensuring precision machined components meet customer and regulatory requirements.

The supervisor oversees CNC and manual machining, coordinates production across departments, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a modern precision machining

Qualifications

• 5+ years of machining experience, including CNC machining, with supervisory experience.
• Experience in aerospace/defense/AS9100-certified environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, blueprint reading, GD&T, ERP systems, and production planning.
• Proven ability to coach employees, solve problems, manage priorities, and improve operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop machinists and machining personnel to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, machine utilization, and workflow.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, engineering drawings, GD&T, and internal quality procedures.
• Monitor departmental KPIs including productivity, scrap, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Production leadership to resolve issues and improve operational performance.
• Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, organized workplace.

What You Will Do
