Freedom Waterworks in Houston, TX is hiring a Machine Shop Maintenance Technician. The role involves daily maintenance of lathes and Landis machines, monitoring lubrication, and performing safety-focused housekeeping in the ductile iron shop.

The candidate will support operators and report issues to management. Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment, with lifting up to 50 pounds and training

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance checks on lathes, Landis machines, and other machine shop equipment.
• Monitor and maintain proper oil levels and lubrication systems.
• Conduct pressure testing on pipes 24 inches and larger.
• Inspect lifting straps and rigging for safe operation.
• Remove metal shavings and debris; keep work areas clean and organized.
• Prepare equipment and support shop readiness for machine operators.
• Operate lathe and Landis machines during downtime or production support.
• Identify and report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.
• Follow all safety policies and quality standards.

Job Title: Machine Shop Maintenance Technician

Location: Houston, TX 77041
Pay: $18.00–$19.00 per hour, depending on experience

What You'll Do

• Perform daily maintenance checks on lathes, Landis machines, and other machine shop equipment.
• Monitor and maintain proper oil levels, lubrication systems, and machine operating conditions.
• Conduct pressure testing on pipe measuring 24 inches and larger.
• Inspect lifting straps, rigging equipment, and other shop safety devices to ensure safe operation.
• Remove metal shavings and debris from machines and surrounding work areas.
• Assist with general housekeeping and organization of the ductile iron shop to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Support machine operators by preparing equipment and maintaining shop readiness.
• Operate lathe and Landis machines during periods of downtime or when production support is needed.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards to management.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Additionally, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Ductile Shop area. This includes ensuring the work area is kept clean, organized, and free of unnecessary debris or materials, in accordance with company housekeeping and safety expectations.

• Previous experience in a machine shop, fabrication shop, or manufacturing environment.
• Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
