Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Hatfield, PA seeks a Supervisor, Machine Shop to lead CNC and manual machining operations onsite. This role drives efficient setup, programming, and execution while coaching machinists and managing production schedules.

You will mentor staff, ensure safety and quality standards, and continuously improve shop procedures and CNC programs across Swiss lathes, VTLs, CNC turning and milling centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience in managing a machine shop environment is advantageous.
• Proven CNC programming, setup and operation experience with Swiss, VTL, CNC turning and milling centers.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced production setting and mentor teammates.

Responsibilities

• Oversee CNC and manual machinists, including scheduling, delegation, and workload management.
• Supervise direct reports: performance evaluations, PTO handling, and staff development.
• Maintain and prioritize the production schedule to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
• Coordinate manpower and machine availability to maximize efficiency.
• Ensure setups and machining processes meet quality and safety standards.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for machining activities.
• Develop and improve machine shop procedures in line with standards and goals.
• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss Lathes, VTL, CNC turning and milling centers.
• Identify and resolve tooling, programming, and machine performance issues.
• Oversee preventive maintenance of machine tools and other shop equipment.
• Show ability to repair CNC machines and related equipment as needed.
• Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely deliverables for outside services.
• Record schedules, performance metrics, and procedural updates.
• Provide input on capital expenditures and staffing needs.
