Job summary

Winchester Interconnect is seeking a Machine Shop Apprentice to contribute to the production of precision components using CNC machinery and Fanuc controls. You will program, configure, and operate Hardinge or Tsugami machines, uphold quality and safety standards, and document activities for continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with the quality team to support our Quality System, participate in maintenance, and follow ISO/AS9100 procedures while learning in a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Must currently be enrolled in a co-op program with a technical school approved by Winchester Interconnect.
  • Must be able to read and write the English Language.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds and standing during shift hours.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Strong interest in hands-on mechanical work with basic mathematical skills (algebra, geometry, and basic trigonometry).
  • High attention to detail, ability to follow multi-step instructions, and willingness to learn in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by performing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions and reporting irregularities for repairs.
  • Document or verbally communicate actions to add value, shorten cycle time or improve a process.
  • Program lathe by entering instructions, setting tools and registers, offsets, zero and reference points.
  • Adhere to ISO and AS 9100 Quality Systems requirements.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces.
  • Study work orders, drawings, machining parameters, and tolerances to plan the day.
  • Assist with setup, operations and maintenance of manual and CNC machines.

Position Summary

As a Machine Shop Apprentice, you will be responsible for the production of precision machine components utilizing FANUC controls through the programming, configuration, and operation of CNC Hardinge or Tsugami machinery. You will uphold rigorous quality and safety standards, manage meticulous documentation, and oversee equipment maintenance and inventory. Your contributions will drive cost reduction and enhance on-time delivery for current product lines, while collaborating closely with the quality team to champion our Quality System.

  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and engineering specifications
  • Use precision measuring instruments to schedule parts for accuracy and verify they meet tolerance standards
  • Strictly adhere to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and company safety standards, including wearing requirements personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Organize tooling, deburr and polish finished metal parts, and assist in routine preventative maintenance on shop equipment

Pay Transparency

Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is $16 per hour, plus incentive compensation. Exact salary will be contingent upon your experience, education, skills, and any other factors Winchester Interconnect Corporation considers relevant to the hiring decision.
