Novo Manufacturing Llc in Ohio is seeking a Machine Setup & Operator I to efficiently set up and operate woodworking equipment. You will take ownership of quality and quantity, read work orders, and ensure conformance to specifications, measurements, and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on execution, accuracy in measurement, and the ability to report production activity while supporting continual process improvements. Shift is Monday–Friday 6:30am–3pm; compensation is $18–$20 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred 1–3 years in manufacturing with woodworking equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate woodworking equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine setup procedures and run sequence.
  • Inspect materials for defects and verify dimensions with calipers and gauges.
  • Document production activity and report any maintenance or performance issues.
  • Maintain proper guarding and PPE; support coverage in other areas as needed.
  • Stay adaptable to overtime, alternate shifts, or weekend work on short notice.

Position SummaryThe Machine Setup & Operator I is responsible for efficiently and safely setting up and operating the various pieces of production equipment within the facility. An operator in this position is expected to work in a hands-on fashion, to take ownership of the quality and quantity of product produced during their shift, and to be actively involved in continual process improvements.Shift: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pmPay: $18-$20/hour DOEEssential ResponsibilitiesSets up, adjusts, and operates equipment including moulders, lathes, automatic turning lathes, glue press, finger jointer, routers and other ancillary equipment needed to shape, profile, turn or otherwise fabricate products made from wood material.Reads work orders and examines product specifications to determine setup procedures, material to be used, and proper run sequence.Selects and installs cutting heads and/or tooling on equipment according to profile and other specifications.Verifies characteristics of materials in process, using gauges, rulers, calipers, templates, schedules, and work instructions to ensure conformance to specifications.Inspects material for defects prior to and after processing.Ensures processes are achieving goals for output, downtime, and scrap.Accurately reports production activity through system transactions, written documents, and reports.Communicates machine maintenance and / or performance issues to Manager.Ensures proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use.Provides coverage as needed in other areas within or outside of the department.May work overtime, alternate shifts and weekends as needed on short notice.Performs other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications (Required)Must be 18 Years of age or older.High school diploma or GED.Ability to functionally use a personal computer to perform detailed inquiries, update information, print reports, create, and modify items daily (i.e.: Microsoft products, WMS/ERP System).Demonstratable working knowledge of arithmetic and geometry with ability to use various measuring devices such as calipers, height gauges, set-up blocks, tape measures, etc.Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees, management both verbally and in written form.Capacity to multi-task with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills to effectively troubleshoot and problem-solve.Use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment.Preferred Qualifications1 to 3 years’ experience in manufacturing setting running woodworking equipment.Travel RequirementsNo travel required.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.100%: Stand, handle or feel, squeeze or grasp.80%: Reaching with hands and arms, depth perception.50%: Walk, repetitive motion, operate moving equipment.10%: Working bent at waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, bending or twisting.Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance.Lift, push or pull 75-100 lbs. with assistance.Must have excellent close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
