Job summary

VitalPath in Maplewood, MN is seeking a Machine Set-Up Operator to set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and operate production equipment. You will ensure machines are properly configured to meet production specs and quality standards while supporting efficient manufacturing.

You will read technical drawings, perform changeovers, monitor performance, document results, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives on the second shift (3:00 pm–1:30 am).

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Perform machine setups and changeovers according to production schedules.
  • Configure equipment settings, tooling, and machine parameters.
  • Verify machine readiness prior to production startup.
  • Operate production equipment to meet production schedule after setup completion.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues following standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and equipment checks, including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments and minor part replacement.
  • Complete required production, quality, and maintenance documentation.
  • Read technical drawings and follow product specifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Communicate equipment issues, downtime, or production concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Train others as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the Position

The Machine Set‑Up Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, troubleshooting, and operating production equipment to support efficient manufacturing operations. This role ensures machines are properly configured to meet production specifications, quality standards, and operational efficiency targets.

In addition to performing machine set‑ups and changeovers, this position actively operates equipment during production runs, monitors performance, addresses process issues, and supports continuous improvement efforts to maximize uptime and throughput.

Work Location / Schedule

  • This position requires the employee to be onsite at our VitalPath Maplewood, MN location.
  • Shift/Schedule: Second Shift Monday–Thursday 3:00 pm–1:30 am.
  • VitalPath does not offer relocation assistance for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform machine setups and changeovers according to production schedules.

  • Experience with braiders, coilers, laser welders, oven and reflow machines preferred.

Compensation Package

  • The hourly range for this position is $24.00–$27.00 + shift differential. The posted hourly range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity.
  • This position is eligible to earn an annual performance bonus based on meeting VitalPath’s bonus performance plan.
