Job summary

Caterpillar South Milwaukee is seeking experienced Machine Repair Mechanics for 2nd or 3rd shift. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing heavy machine tools and industrial equipment used in mining-related manufacturing processes.

You will work with cranes, conveyors, welding systems and hydraulic/pneumatic installations, ensuring precise alignment and high reliability. A strong background in mechanical drawings and preventive maintenance is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industrial machine tool maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex machine tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic documentation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in machine tool theory and application.
• One of the following: Journeyman certification, Associate degree, Union card, 5+ years experience, or equivalent military training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of machine tools and assets.
• Maintain cranes, hoists, conveyors, furnaces, welding equipment.
• Install and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ball screws, and controllers.
• Perform machine leveling, shaft alignment, lubrication, tube bending, and welding.
• Read and interpret mechanical prints and hydraulic schematics.
