Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking an engineer to support the Machine Performance group in tuning and validating vehicle control systems. The role blends bench work with hands-on vehicle diagnostics and software validation to ensure features meet design requirements.

The candidate will perform CAN troubleshooting, calibration development, and controller tuning in a hybrid setting, with about half time spent on vehicle work and the remainder on bench simulations and validation tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in vehicle tuning or controls.
• Experience with IC engine controls: fueling, speed control, and governing.
• Familiarity with CAN diagnostics and validation workflows.
• Calibration development and validation support.

Responsibilities

• Support the Machine Performance group during early software releases.
• Calibrate and tune vehicle features and controllers to meet requirements.
• Perform CAN troubleshooting to ensure proper functioning of systems.
• Conduct bench simulations and tuning of PID and acceleration-based controllers.
• Hybrid work arrangement; 50% hands-on vehicle work on project stages.

• The candidate selected for this requirement would be supporting the Machine Performance group.
• This group takes on early software releases from the build integration team, and they utilize the software to calibrate/tune for existing features, and ensure functionality. They will perform feedback on design or validation issues that don't meet requirements.
• They will support software builds that have been tuned successfully. Will perform CAN troubleshooting to ensure its properly functioning.
• This position will be a hybrid position depending on what stage of the work they're in. 50% hands on vehicle work where they support controller, vehicle system, and requirement validation.
• They will perform bench simulation. Troubleshooting and tuning of vehicle tuning, PID controller tuning, and acceleration-based controllers.

Must Haves

• Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Classic controls relating to IC (Diesel) engine operation (Fueling/Speed Control) and governing of it
• OBD and NDFL Diagnostics experience
