Job summary

ResourceMFG is seeking a skilled Band Saw Operator for the 3rd shift in Santa Fe Springs, CA. You will cut metal stock to specifications using horizontal and/or vertical band saws, interpret blueprints, and ensure quality with precision measuring tools.

The role requires reading job travelers, selecting blades appropriately, and maintaining safety and cleanliness in a metalworking environment. Training on the 1st shift is available before transitioning to the 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• Experience operating band saws in a manufacturing or machine shop setting.
• Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws to cut metal materials per blueprints and cut lists.
• Inspect finished cuts for dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Measure and mark materials using precision tools; report defects or malfunctions.
• Perform routine maintenance and keep the work area safe and organized.
• Assist with material handling and loading/unloading as needed.

Band Saw Operator – 3rd Shift

Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Shift: 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Training Requirement: Must be available to train on 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Overtime: Saturday overtime available

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Band Saw Operator to join our machine shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately cutting metal stock and raw materials to specified dimensions using horizontal and/or vertical band saws. The ideal candidate will have experience working with metals, reading blueprints, and using precision measuring tools to ensure quality and accuracy. This position plays a critical role in supporting machining and fabrication operations through efficient material preparation and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

• Set up and operate horizontal and/or vertical band saws to cut metal materials, including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
• Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, cut lists, and mechanical drawings to determine cutting requirements.
• Select the appropriate saw blades based on material type, thickness, and cutting specifications.
• Monitor saw performance and make adjustments to feed rates, blade tension, and cutting angles as needed.
• Ensure all cuts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.

Quality Control

• Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect finished cuts for accuracy and quality.
• Identify and report material defects, variances, or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate production records as required.

Maintenance & Safety

• Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance, including blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and quality.

Material Handling

• Assist with loading and unloading raw materials and finished products.
• Move materials throughout the shop using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Organize inventory and maintain proper material storage practices.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating band saws in a manufacturing, machine shop, or metal fabrication environment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Must be available to train on 1st Shift before transitioning to 3rd Shift.
