Job summary

Lapeyre Stair in New Orleans is seeking a Machine Operator (tube bending) to set up and operate BLM CNC tube-bending machines, read blueprints, and meet dimensional requirements.

You will inspect parts with calipers and gauges, troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with engineering and production to improve processes and uptime. A high school diploma or GED and ability to lift 68 lbs are required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate BLM CNC tube-bending machines, including loading programs and adjusting equipment to meet dimensional requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, work instructions, specifications, and bend data sheets.
• Inspect first-piece, in-process, and finished parts using calipers, tape measures, angle gauges, templates, and other measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot bending defects, correct process issues, monitor machine performance, and report equipment concerns.
• Safely handle raw materials and finished products while maintaining accurate production and quality records.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and housekeeping to support safety and machine uptime.
• Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes, reduce setup time and scrap, and strengthen first-pass quality.
• Meet expectations for production output, safety compliance, quality, scrap reduction, setup efficiency, and equipment uptime.

• Experience with tube fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and forming.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with robotic loading and unloading systems.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience.
