Job summary

Sheridan in Stevens Point, WI is seeking a manufacturing operator to set up and run the sheeter, mount rolls, and adjust sheet size. You will monitor production, perform quality checks, document usage, and assist with maintenance and housekeeping while supporting a team-focused culture.

Responsibilities include following production run instructions, cross-training on other machines, and upholding safety policies and attendance standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up shearer to review job order, mount rolls, configure sheet size, and program equipment.
• Follow pre-production and production run tasks per instructions.
• Operate and tend the sheeter and monitor operations for malfunctions.
• Inspect equipment, identify defects, and report issues for resolution.
• Perform general maintenance and housekeeping as assigned.
• Cross-train on other machines and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities

• Set up sheeter to include reviewing job order to ensure accuracy and completeness; preparing and mounting rolls for sheeter; setting roll stand; and programming and setting sheet size.
• Follow pre-production and production run tasks and instructions.
• Operate and tend sheeter.
• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report and resolve issues.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on machine as required.
• Perform quality checks and document material usage.
• Responsible for general housekeeping and assisting in other machine operations as assigned.
• Cross train on other machines as assigned.
• Foster the continual use and implementation of philosophies and tools that are taught through Sheridan’s training program while promoting the concept of working together as a team and with other departments to building continuous improvement within Sheridan.
• Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Type II forklift certification.
• Knowledge of arithmetic and structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition required.
• Ability to consistently and effectively work independently with little or no direction and follow up to complete assignments required.
• Ability to demonstrate practical and technical knowledge of the job including an understanding of work instructions, processes, equipment, and materials to perform the job required.
• Ability to consistently and effectively complete work and required paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and neatly following established processes and procedures required.
• Ability to consistently and effectively demonstrate initiative and creativity; teamwork and cooperation; and adhere to and comply with all company and environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.

DesiredQualifications

• Previous machine set up and operation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 100 pounds.
