Job summary

Sur-seal Llc in Charlotte, NC seeks a Machine Operator to set up and run production equipment per our process. You will read the job traveler, adjust machine settings, inspect first pieces for tolerance, and document results. Responsibilities include safe operation, basic maintenance, and keeping the work area clean and organized.

Qualified applicants should have strong math skills, problem solving abilities, and proficiency with basic computer tasks. English reading/writing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines to produce products per Sur-Seal’s process.
  • Read job traveler to determine machine adjustments and material needs.
  • Set stops or guides to specified length and center materials with die or blade.
  • Start machine, inspect first piece, and verify tolerances before continuing.
  • Adjust speed and feed according to operation and material.
  • Monitor operation for defects or malfunctions and perform first/last piece checks.
  • Perform basic maintenance such as oiling and checking dies.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain housekeeping at work center.

Job description

SUMMARYSets up and operate machines to produce acceptable product according to Sur-Seal’s process.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Accepts materials for each assigned job, review and evaluate prior to beginning.Reads job specifications (job traveler) to determine machine adjustments, material requirements and to fully understand process prior to beginning each operation. Fills out sequence at every operation completed.Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template (center).Centers all materials or aligns layout marks with die or blade.Pulls start lever to activate machine.Obtains first run work piece and inspects part to verify dimensional tolerances before continuing to run.Selects and sets speed and feed of machine according to type of operation and specified material and finish.Follows up with team lead to verify any questions if necessary.Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction. Completes first piece and last piece comparisons throughout the run.Performs operation to acceptable quality standards, packs/stacks/marks parts if required and transports finished work pieces.Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machine and checking dies for needed maintenance.Follows all safety policies and procedures.Accurately completes all documentation as required to complete each job.Performs housekeeping duties around work center to avoid slips, trips, and falls.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
