Job description

Position Overview

Participate in all functions related to the production, warehousing, and distribution of products. Operate computers, order materials, perform changeovers, troubleshoot machinery, and maintain machine operation according to established standards.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Safely and efficiently perform manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and warehousing to meet customer demand, including operating paper converting machines and forklifts.
  • Set up, changeover, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
  • Respond promptly to production issues such as material shortages, inventory discrepancies, raw material quality, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate production records manually and via computer systems.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including overtime on short notice, as required by the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably in paper converting.
  • Experience in warehousing/shipping is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (FDA, ISO, Lean, Six Sigma) is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with basic tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, utility knives, and measurement devices.
  • Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking, including understanding machine operation and safety instructions.

Performance Competencies

  • Basic computer skills including email, data entry, and system navigation.
  • Effective team communication skills, including verbal communication in loud environments and use of hand signals if necessary.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate initiative.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including sitting, standing for long periods, lifting, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, bending, crawling, and wearing PPE.
  • Tolerance for loud noise, temperature variations, and dusty conditions.
