Job description

Basic Position Objective Statement

Participate in all functions associated with the production, warehousing, and distribution of products. Work on computer, order materials, do change overs, troubleshoot machine and keep machine running to established expectations.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Safely and efficiently perform manufacturing, assembly, packaging and warehousing of product to meet customer demand which may include operation of paper converting machines and/or forklifts. This includes set-up, changeover and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot and respond to production issues timely, i.e., shortage of materials, inventory issues, out of spec raw materials, quality issues, equipment issues, etc.
  3. Complete and maintain production records both manually and with computer systems.
  4. Willingness and flexibility to work a variety of shifts that involve all days of the week as needed. This includes ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as determined by the business.
  5. All other assignments assigned by management.

Knowledge, Education and Training Qualifications and Certifications:

  1. High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
  2. Must be at least 18 years old.

Key Functional Competencies:

  1. Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a paper converting environment.
  2. Experience in warehousing/shipping environments is helpful.
  3. Experience in quality management systems (FDA, ISO, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, etc.) is helpful.
  4. Ability to use basic tools including wrenches, hammers, utility knives, screwdrivers, brooms, and measuring devices in rules and scales, etc., used in a manufacturing environment.
  5. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language (such as machine operation instructions, safety instructions, etc.).

Key Performance Competencies:

  1. Ability to perform basic computer operations such as email, data entry, navigation skills within system and desktop, etc.
  2. Able to work as an effective team member.
  3. Must be able to communicate verbally through regular conversation in loud environments, and using appropriate hand signals (as needed).
  4. Ability to prioritize and take initiative.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to work safely in a normal manufacturing environment to include: sitting, standing for up to 12 hours, lifting or walking for long periods of time; climbing stairs; operating various standard office equipment; reaching; bending; crawling; speaking on the telephone; wearing required personal protection gear (i.e., hearing, eye, foot protection, gloves and hairnets); tolerating loud noise (exceeding 90 dB in areas); tolerating periodic exposure to temperatures; hot and cold, and dusty environments.
