Description Position at Samtec, Inc

Have you enjoyed working in electronics or light manufacturing? Samtec is seeking a NIGHT Shift MACHINE OPERATOR with some similar manufacturing experience. Pay is $22.00/hr to start with a 75-cent differential for night shifts. Training is provided. This position is located in our Wilsonville, OR cable plant. Shifts are set schedules 12 hours, 3 days per week, with full benefits. Currently, there are two NIGHT SHIFT openings: Sun-Tue nights 5pm-5am and Wed-Fri 5pm-5am.

The associate may train on a different shift/schedule for a month prior to transferring to the regular schedule. Flexibility is important. Required Experience

  • Good computer entry skills with attention to detail.
  • Good manual dexterity.

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to read and understand job specifications, schematics, shop orders, read prints, operating instructions, perform basic math calculations, interpret basic statistics, identify functional problems, take corrective action, and interface with supervisors and engineers.
  • Experience with cable manufacturing processes is a plus.

Preferred Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Technical degree or certificate is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand and walk for 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Set up and run jobs for customer orders.
  • Maintain high quality and on-time delivery standards.
  • Manage job inventory per established methods and procedures.
  • Complete and maintain the required paperwork.
  • Enter maintenance requests when machine issues are identified.
  • Follow approved processes related to tooling, process sheets, prints, work instructions, shop order packets, and other instructions, troubleshooting quality problems.
  • For extrusion: set up and run extruder jobs, work with high temperatures up to 1000˚F, manage inventory, and follow process parameters such as resin type, temperature, line speed, and more.
  • Understand and follow all safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and workspaces.
