Job summary

Reliance, Inc. is seeking Machine Operators to support steel processing operations. The role involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment such as press brakes, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, conveyors, and transfer tables to produce steel products.

You will ensure parts meet size, position, and tolerance specs while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity. Candidates should have 1–2 years in manufacturing or metal processing, with a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience operating manufacturing or metal processing equipment preferred; entry-level candidates may be trained.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a steel service center or fabrication environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and specifications.
  • Ability to use basic math and measurement skills accurately.
  • Experience using measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers).
  • Ability to operate overhead crane (preferred).
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing with changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • High dependability and teamwork.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot machinery including press brake, plasma plate burning, conveyors, and transfer tables.
  • Process steel products according to work orders and tolerances.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections for quality.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust for efficiency.
  • Record and report production data and quality issues; escalate as needed.
  • Follow written work instructions, orders, and specifications.
  • Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes to move materials as needed.
  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials in production areas.

Job Summary

Delta Steel is currently hiring Machine Operators to support our processing operations. This position offers a day schedule (Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM) and includes a night shift differential, overtime opportunities, eligibility for a monthly profit incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package. Operators will set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including press brakes, plate burning machines (plasma and oxy-fuel), conveyors, transfer tables, and material handling systems to process steel products. Ensure all materials are produced to required size, position, and tolerance specifications outlined in work orders while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Job Function
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot assigned machinery including:
    • Press brake machines
    • Plate burning machines (plasma and oxy-fuel)
    • Conveyors and transfer tables
  • Process steel products according to work orders, ensuring compliance with position, size, and tolerance requirements
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain production efficiency and accuracy
  • Solve production process issues and make necessary equipment adjustments
  • Record and report production data, quality issues, and decisions made; elevate concerns to supervisor as needed
  • Read, understand, and follow written work instructions, work orders, and specifications
  • Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes to move and position steel materials (as needed)
  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials to appropriate work areas or storage locations
  • Organize materials and maintain efficient workflow in production areas
  • Use manual hand tools (e.g., wrenches, clamps) to set up and adjust machinery
  • Use measuring devices such as tape measures and micrometers to verify product accuracy
  • Apply basic math skills to measurements and layouts
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to production and inventory
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Follow and enforce all workplace safety rules, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Assist with other warehouse, processing, or maintenance duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Cross-train and perform other job functions when primary duties are not required
Required Skills
