The Machine Operator – Laser Tube Cutting is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the TRUMPF TruLaser Tube machine, including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting. This role also includes operating forklifts and overhead cranes to load and unload tube materials, supporting production schedules, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
- Operate the TruLaser Tube machine to trim, cut, and process tubing for production
- Start up, reference, and shut down machine safely and accurately
- Load and unload materials manually and using automatic systems
- Operate a forklift and overhead crane to move and stage materials
- Perform nozzle alignment, lens cleaning and replacement, focus tests, and spot image testing
- Utilize HMI control panel for production control, program adjustments, and job management
- Copy, transfer, and manage machine programs using USB or network systems
- Read and modify laser technology tables (LTT); restore to default when needed
- Identify various tube profiles and manage inventory for production use
- Create, modify, export, and import tube layouts and job lists
- Monitor cut quality and troubleshoot production issues
- Apply flexible entry to resume cutting when needed
- Support consistent, accurate documentation of completed jobs
- Maintain machine cleanliness and assist with preventive maintenance
- Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols and procedures
- Comply with the EHS Policy and follow all company and OSHA safety protocols and procedures.
- Attend scheduled EHS trainings.
- Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement of
- Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical training or experience in laser/cutting machines preferred
- Experience operating CNC or laser cutting machines (preferred)
- TRUMPF machine experience highly desirable
- Forklift and overhead crane experience (required)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret machine parameters and technical documentation
- Comfortable using HMI systems and navigating basic computer programs
- Basic understanding of laser and electrical safety
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods of time (6–12 hours)
- Squatting, kneeling and standing frequently.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
- Use of steps, ladders, and lifting equipment
- Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, machinery, and heat, dust/dirt frequently and fumes, vapors and mists occasionally.
