Summary
The Machine Operator – Laser Tube Cutting is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the TRUMPF TruLaser Tube machine, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting. The role involves operating forklifts and overhead cranes, supporting production, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate the TruLaser Tube machine for trimming, cutting, and processing tubing.
- Load/unload materials manually and with automated systems.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes for material handling.
- Perform machine setup, nozzle alignment, lens cleaning, and testing.
- Use HMI control panels for production management.
- Manage machine programs via USB or network.
- Read and modify laser technology tables and manage tube inventories.
- Create and modify tube layouts and job lists.
- Monitor cut quality and troubleshoot issues.
- Document completed jobs accurately.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and assist in preventive maintenance.
- Follow safety protocols, including OSHA standards and LOTO procedures.
- Participate in safety trainings and promote safe work habits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience with CNC or laser cutting machines preferred.
- TRUMPF machine experience highly desirable.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret machine parameters and technical documentation.
- Comfort with HMI systems and basic computer skills.
- Understanding of laser and electrical safety.
- Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods (6–12 hours).
- Frequent squatting, kneeling, and standing.
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Use of steps, ladders, and lifting equipment.
- Exposure to manufacturing environment hazards.
