Job Summary:
The Tube Mill Machine Operator will be responsible for operating machines designed to shape and form metal or other materials. These operators set up, maintain, and operate machinery, ensuring products meet specific dimensions and quality standards. The operator will play a key role in improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost on existing manufacturing processes.
- Remove products or workpieces from production equipment.
- Align parts or workpieces to ensure proper assembly.
- Set equipment controls to meet cutting specifications.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
- Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.
- Select production equipment according to product specifications.
- Mount materials or workpieces onto production equipment.
- Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
- Sharpen cutting or grinding tools.
- Operate grinding equipment.
- Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
- Calculate dimensions of workpieces, products, or equipment.
- Feed materials or products into or through equipment.
- Determine production equipment settings.
- Record operational or production data.
- Construct patterns, templates, or other work aids.
- Adjust equipment controls to regulate coolant flow.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience with metal forming machinery preferred.
- Proficiency in operating metal forming machinery, and other milling equipment.
- Trouble shooting mechanics, hydraulics and/or electric systems in a metal forming machine preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Familiarity with using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Basic math skills for performing calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, and angles.
- Experience in fabricating and assembling components.
- Knowledge of stationary crane operation for moving heavy materials preferred.
