Job summary

Forum Energy Services, Inc. seeks an experienced vessel fabrication specialist to safely prepare materials, form carbon steel plates, and fabricate tanks and related weldments.

You will operate plate rolls, CNC plasma tables, and multiple cutting and lifting machines while maintaining quality and adhering to safety standards. The role requires reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and working as part of a team in a safety-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in manufacturing, fabrication, or vessel production.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and use precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with plate rolls, plasma tables, overhead cranes, oxy-fuel cutting, band saws, or beveling machines.
  • Strong understanding of rigging, material handling, and shop safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work safely and report unsafe conditions.
  • Operate plate rolls to form carbon steel into cylindrical/conical shapes.
  • Operate CNC plasma cutting tables per drawings and requirements.
  • Use oxy-fuel torches for cutting and material prep.
  • Move plates and assemblies with overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Cut raw materials with band saws and bevel joints per drawings.
  • Read blueprints, verify dimensions, and inspect finished work.

Job description

Vessel fabrication is responsible for operating fabrication equipment used in the manufacture of pressure vessels, tanks, and related weldments. This position safely performs material preparation, forming, cutting, lifting, and machining operations while maintaining quality standards, production schedules, and workplace safety requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform work in a professional and safe manner, report unsafe work practices
  • Operate plate rolling equipment to form carbon steel plate into cylindrical and conical shapes.
  • Operate CNC plasma cutting tables to cut plate and structural materials according to engineering drawings and production requirements.
  • Use oxygen-acetylene torches for cutting, heating, straightening, and material preparation.
  • Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely move plates, vessel components, and fabricated assemblies throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Operate horizontal and vertical band saws to cut raw materials to specified dimensions.
  • Operate beveling machines to prepare weld joints in accordance with fabrication drawings and welding procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and measuring instruments.
  • Verify dimensions and quality of completed work using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other inspection tools.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, material defects, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, welding/fabrication procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with other manufacturing and fabrication activities as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or vessel production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating plate rolls, plasma tables, overhead cranes, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, band saws, or beveling machines preferred.
  • Able to read fabrication drawings and use precision measuring tools.
  • Thorough understanding of rigging, material handling, and shop safety practices.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Overhead crane certification.
  • Experience in pressure vessel, tank, or structural steel fabrication.
  • Knowledge of weld joint preparation and fit-up requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • 3+ years.
