Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. in Broussard, LA seeks a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and NC machines to produce precision parts.

You will read drawings, verify tolerances, adjust offsets, align fixtures, and change tools as required to meet specifications. This safety‑sensitive role emphasizes quality and accuracy in a demanding manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Has working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Applies basic concepts of algebra and geometry to set up and inspect parts.

Responsibilities

• Review print and work order.
• Attach fixture to machine and secure part.
• Position tools per setup instructions.
• Input program or program machine if necessary.
• Operate machine to produce part.
• Measure work piece and adjust offset as required.
• Stamp or engrave necessary information on part.
• Notify supervisor of nonconforming product.
• Deburr part as necessary.
• Complete work order documentation and first piece inspection.
• Check calibration on QC instruments.
• Proof program and edit as necessary.
• Optimize tooling and programs to increase production.
• Operate overhead cranes, JIB Cranes, and forklifts.

Job description

Sets up and operates CNC machines, conventional (lathe and/or mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers for machining of metallic and nonmetallic parts that hold to the high-quality machine standards required within the organization. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required. Must be able to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathes. Must demonstrate an Intermediate/advanced skill level on at least four machines: CNC mill, CNC lathe, and NC (figure feed rates), manual mill, brouch, drill press, rework lathe/press lathe.
