Job summary

Materion is seeking a Machine Operator for 2nd shift (M-F, 2:30pm-11:00pm) to process tantalum and niobium scrap and powder in the Melt Shop. The role follows standard operating procedures and uses power tools and production equipment.

You will set up and operate jaw crusher, tornado mill, blending and scrap processing equipment, and work with a 1,500t press. Basic math, measuring, and safety are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School or Vocational Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Basic math skills required for job functions.
  • Understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Machining experience is a plus.
  • May require fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts and hand tools.
  • Must obtain fork truck and/or overhead crane licenses and lockout/tagout certification.
  • Must keep neat and accurate records.

  • Identify problems and seek assistance to resolve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area following 5S standards.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator is responsible for following standard operating procedures in the operation of power tools and production equipment to process tantalum and niobium scrap and powder.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Blends and samples incoming powder products.
  • Sets up and operates jaw crusher, tornado mill and blending equipment.
  • Sets up and operates scrap processing equipment.
  • Sets up and operates 1,500t press
  • Ability and willingness to multitask and learn other areas of the Melt Shop.
  • Requires mechanical aptitude.
  • Follows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements and follows environmental policies.
  • Must be able to understand specifications and use measuring instruments with assistance.
  • Requires ability to recognize problems and seek assistance to resolve.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly way and follows 5S standard work practices.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • High School of Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required.
  • 0-2 years of experience related production experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic math skills are required to perform necessary job functions.
  • An understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).
  • Good communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with some machining experience is a plus.
  • May require the use of fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts and hand tools.
  • Must be capable of obtaining a fork truck license and/or overhead crane license and must obtain a lockout/tagout certification.
  • Must have the ability to keep neat and accurate records.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position requires direct contact on the manufacturing floor and requires ambulation.

Work time is spent in a factory environment where temperatures fluctuate.

Pay Range: $23.76-$29.35 Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
