Job summary

OSG USA, INC. seeks a Machine Operator II to operate CNC machines and transform blanks into precision cutting tools. You will read blueprints, select tooling, set controls, load blanks, and monitor runs to meet exact tolerances.

Shift is overnight, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m., with a non-exempt hourly role. Responsibilities include safety compliance, tool changes, and tool inspections while maintaining clean work areas and reporting any issues.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines to fabricate cutting tools.
  • Read blueprints and determine tooling, settings, and sequences.
  • Load tool blanks and monitor machine operation for quality and safety.
  • Measure parts to blueprint tolerances (±0.002).
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep work area clean.

Position Summary:

We are looking for aMachine Operator IIto join our growing team!The process of making cutting tools is at the core of our organization. The Machine Operator II will operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform various machine functions. This position transforms a blank into a quality cutting tool.

Job Functions for Machine Operator II:
  • Follows all factory procedures regarding safety, production, and quality
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
  • Loads tool blanks in the machine
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions
  • Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications to .002 tolerances
  • Collect Total Indicator Reading (TIR) Measurements (circular run out) for tool to .002
  • Critical thinking skills – determine the relationship between two measurements – for example, diameter in front vs. diameter in back within tolerance of prints
  • Use of Winslow, Helicheck, and other tools for measurement readings
    Visually inspects and measures standard tools
  • Adjust the machine (size) or alert the supervisor as necessary
  • Cleans machine, tooling, parts, and work area
  • Alerts supervisor or setup personnel of any errors, conditions, or problems affecting quality, safety, or performance
  • Demonstrate commitment to company values, a strong sense of cooperation, and a willingness to work in a team environment.
Qualifications for Machine Operator II:
  • Some High School experience or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver weights up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications for Machine Operator II:
  • Knowledge of cutting tools
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing work environment

Physical Working Demands:
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate by phone using the English Language.
  • Ability to stand for long periods (3-4 hours at a time) to run machines .
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds to support the weight of machine components and be able to reach into machinery for several hours at a time. Position involves bending, pulling, pushing, and twisting to complete machine maintenance tasks.
  • Must feel comfortable with heights and climbing ladders.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Hours: 10:00 p.m - 6:30 a.m (Sunday Night - Friday Morning)

Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
