Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines such as lathes, grinders, milling machines, and drill presses to produce complex metallic parts according to customer specifications.

Standard Duties
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Uphold quality requirements specific to the department, including spill procedures.
- Meet daily production goals as communicated.
- Set up and operate various CNC machines (two to six axes).
- Adjust fixtures, cutting tools, and make tooling offsets.
- Follow work instructions, standardized work, and process sheets.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on materials or workpieces.
- Start and monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions, and make adjustments.
- Use precision instruments like CMMs, micrometers, and calipers to verify quality.
- Maintain quality within control limits for SPC.
- Interpret gear charts and reports, and collaborate to resolve machining issues.
- Read and execute internal procedures and policies.
- Perform minor machine maintenance.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine setup requirements.
- Verify finished workpieces meet specifications.
- Support machining departments and other areas as needed.
- Load and unload CNC machinery and assembly stations.
- Pack finished materials into dunnage.
- Manually handle materials on foot and by hand.
- Act in accordance with BorgWarner's beliefs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education
High School diploma or GED required. Six months of manufacturing experience preferred, especially in a fast-paced lean environment. Mechanical aptitude, ability to read gear charts, and proficiency with measuring instruments are desirable. Basic computer knowledge is necessary.
