Summary:
Sonoco is looking for a reliable individual to work in our Wood Reels Plant. The position will be responsible for operating various equipment. The goal of this position is to produce high quality reels while maintaining a safe working environment and good housekeeping. We are looking for a motivated individual who can work independently and with a team to accomplish assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting equipment to ensure the production of quality parts that meet company standards.
Consistently loading rolls of plastic onto machinery.
Setting up new jobs and operate various thermoforming machinery, make incremental process adjustments to machinery, monitor and report quality of manufactured products.
Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies, help other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, balers, etc.
- Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, and bend during the course of the shift.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
- Able to communicate effectively and listen to verbal instructions.
- Knowledgeable of basic hand tools required to perform duties.
- Forklift certification required (training provided).
- High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Basic math skills required.
-Able to read a tape measure
